About The Position

This position is based in the Philippines and will support the stand-up and operation of a contracted Role 2 Medical Treatment Facility located in Lal-Lo. The assignment is scheduled from April 18 through June 19, 2026, and will provide expeditionary medical support to U.S. military personnel and other authorized beneficiaries operating in the region. Please note that this is a temporary contract position and is not based in the United States. Candidates must be willing and able to travel internationally and work in an overseas operational environment for the duration of the contract. The Laboratory Technician evaluates specimens, performs routine and complex analytical testing, ensures assay quality control, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment, manages laboratory inventory, and keeps detailed records of all test results. In a remote, resource-limited, and high-stress setting, the role establishes, operates, and maintains reliable diagnostic capability with minimal supervision to support immediate clinical and public health decisions for authorized beneficiaries.

Requirements

  • Medical Laboratory Technician certification, American Medical Technologist certification, or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum two years of experience in the medical field.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Associations (AHA) or equivalent is required.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Appropriate education required to pass and maintain the licensure, certification, or registration required to meet the qualifications of the contract.
  • Ability to work in high-stress environments with strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the labor category, including medical terminology, basic computer skills, customer service expectations, telephone etiquette, and basic typing.
  • Ability to meet applicable credentialing, certification, registration, and competency requirements consistent with Defense Health Agency standards and the contract.
  • Ability to document in electronic health record or paper health record systems as directed.
  • Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs.
  • Valid passport with at least 18 months before expiration date.
  • Must maintain a current passport during your stay.
  • Successful completion of required background checks.
  • Must be able to relocate to Philippines for the duration of the project.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior emergency medical services experience and/or emergency care management experience is preferred.
  • Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, prepare, sort, centrifuge, and distribute biological specimens and other substances for analysis.
  • Perform routine and complex analytical tests using manual and automated methods in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and molecular biology.
  • Evaluate specimens and ensure the quality control of assays to support accurate and reliable diagnostic results.
  • Operate, maintain, calibrate, clean, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Establish, operate, and maintain laboratory diagnostic capability with minimal supervision in a remote, resource-limited, and high-stress environment.
  • Manage laboratory inventory required to support basic chemistry panels and laboratory testing.
  • Accurately record, analyze, interpret, and maintain test data, test results, medical records, forms, and other required documentation.
  • Complete one hundred percent of required shift documentation before shift change and maintain records.
  • Support efficient patient care through teamwork and communication with physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, nurses, medical technicians, radiology technicians, support personnel, and other assigned clinical staff.
  • Support twenty-four-hour operations, including rotating shifts, evening on-call duties, and thirty-minute recall status, as scheduled.
  • Report to work as scheduled during emergencies, disasters, and adverse weather conditions.
  • Comply with International SOS standards, licensure and credentialing requirements, quality assurance requirements, and all applicable safety, fire prevention, waste disposal, infection control, patient safety, confidentiality, and security requirements.
  • Safeguard Government property and confidential patient information and route media, third-party, or public agency inquiries to the Contracting Officer’s Representative.
  • Do not introduce new procedures or services without prior approval.
  • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
