About The Position

The Laboratory Technician shall provide services in support of the overall functions of the Laboratory of Immunogenetics (LIG), Division of Intramural Research (DIR) within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree plus a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience in a related field.
  • Experience with using of applications such as MS Office and Teams and Adobe.
  • Experience with handling of biological and chemical material.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of laboratory procedures and techniques.
  • Perform experiment with the use of congenic, transgenic, and knockout mice; analyses of lymphoma cell lines; DNA and tissue microarrays; and molecular and cell biology.
  • Perform experiment using laboratory instruments used to perform tests, analyses, and other laboratory procedures.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of experiments and results.
  • Write reports of findings, stating methods and procedures, including any modifications employed specimens and materials involved, and results of experiments.
  • Provide quality control of the laboratory including upkeep and routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Order and stock standard laboratory glassware and associated supplies.
  • Clean and sterilize glassware, plastic-ware and hand instruments as appropriate.
  • Pick up dirty glassware from Media Laboratory.
  • Maintain detailed daily reports on items washed; transfer handwritten logs to excel spreadsheet
  • Perform quality control for each item washed to check for residue, cracks or other imperfections. Discard any items that are no longer able to meet laboratory standards.
