Position Overview The Novelis North America Bay Minette Technical team is looking for Quality Lab Technicians to be located at our new facility in Bay Minette, Alabama. The Laboratory Technician will ensure the quality of aluminum products meet their requirements by conducting process and product testing. They will ensure the quality of aluminum products meet requirement by conducting process and product testing. They will also support qualification trials and customer claims activities.

  • Be a role model for safety; demonstrating behaviors that align with the Novelis Safety Absolutes and Safety Principles to build a zero-injury culture.
  • Ensure personal safety and physical and mental well-being, as well as that of colleagues and visitors in their area of expertise; use mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and guide others in its use.
  • Support EHS initiatives like Gemba walks and chemical inventory audits.
  • Preserve the environment and align with legal environmental requirements established in ISO and other specific standards.
  • Conduct mechanical and chemical testing of in-process, raw materials, and finished metals to ensure compliance with internal mill, customer, ASTM, and Aluminum Association specifications and standards.
  • Perform chemical analysis of mill coolants, additives, and chemicals used in the manufacturing process and conduct metallography testing for quality assurance.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic manufacturing experience
  • Ability to work as scheduled (including overtime, weekends and holidays) to support our 24/7 operations
  • Basic computer and math skills
  • Associates degree in STEM/technology or similar field is preferred.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills, ability to design testing experiments, collect, analyze and present the results proactively
  • 3 years of chemical, lab, or quality control experience in manufacturing industry preferred.
