About The Position

Founded in 2015, Hillis-Carnes Capitol Services, PLLC (HCCS) is a top-tier, multi-disciplined, employee-owned, engineering firm with a demonstrated history of success! We're looking for motivated candidates to fill the role Laboratory Technician in our office located in Washington, DC. Competitive starting pay based on prior experience, and $500 signing bonus! This is a great starting role in the engineering and construction industries!

Requirements

  • High School degree or GED equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Geology a plus)
  • Ability to meet pre-employment criteria, including motor vehicle record.
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematic computations.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 60-80 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid (ACI, AWS, ICC, NICET, NRCA, etc.) certifications are a plus and will result in higher starting pay!

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in processing concrete test cylinders (stripping, logging, and curing).
  • Assisting in performing compressive strength testing of concrete test cylinders.
  • Calibrating field testing equipment.
  • Maintain field equipment inventory.
  • Report laboratory testing results to the project team verbally or in writing.
  • Interacting with senior staff members on a variety of projects, as needed.
  • Support a clean, safe, efficient laboratory environment.
  • Successfully complete necessary certifications (company-paid) to perform laboratory testing tasks.
  • Pay raises will be provided for successful completion of certifications!
