About The Position

The Laboratory Technician at Schluter Systems, LP is responsible for the preparation, documentation, testing, and reporting of physical test specimens in the Technical Laboratory. This role involves conducting various physical properties tests, collaborating with different departments, and ensuring adherence to industry standards and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in an engineering, scientific, or construction-related field.
  • A combination of education and/or relevant experience will be considered.
  • Laboratory experience preferred.
  • Hands-on construction experience preferred.
  • General computer skills (e.g. email, basic Microsoft Office knowledge).
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct physical properties testing on a wide variety of products, components, and assemblies in accordance with industry standards or in-house test procedures.
  • Document, evaluate, and interpret laboratory data.
  • Communicate with internal customers and coordinate incoming test requests.
  • Collaborate with other departments (R&D, Product Management, etc.) to collect, evaluate, and analyze data.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and operate laboratory tools and equipment.
  • Conduct product and industry research to support laboratory testing.
  • Learn and understand industry standards and specifications (ANSI, ASTM, ISO, etc.) as they relate to Schluter products and installation methods.
  • Learn the proper use and application of Schluter products, which may require travel to Schluter Systems Innovation Workshops.
  • Potential travel to Schluter Systems Headquarters in Iserlohn, Germany for extended training (up to 2 weeks).
  • Adhere to laboratory rules, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with international colleagues as part of the Schluter Systems International Technical Network as needed.
  • Construct large-scale testing assemblies, including wood framing assemblies, small concrete pads, showers, etc.
  • Install waterproof membranes, tile, and associated components.
  • Demolish and dispose of assemblies.
