Our East Syracuse, NY laboratory is looking for an entry-level Technician to join their Sample Receiving team ! The Laboratory Technician will receive and prioritize sample packages, verify chains of custody and log all samples into LIMS according to chain of custody and client specific requirements with accuracy and precision in accordance with SGS' login SOPs. The Sample Login Technician works independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. The Sample Login Technician ensures best quality through adherence to all policies, procedures, and quality verifications. The Sample Login Technician always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and prior general working experience (Required)
  • Proficient English language skills (Required)
  • Basic mathematical and reasoning skills (Required)
  • Basic computer skills (Required)
  • Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a science related field (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Sorts packages containing samples according to turn around time, analytical and client priorities; compares samples received to the chain of custody, documenting any discrepancies.
  • Tracks all packages and reuseable media in LIMS, returns all unused/returned media for reuse as applicable.
  • Creates unique login identification in LIMS for each sample submittal, enters sample records and generates labels using LIMS in accordance with chain of custody; applies labels to all samples.
  • Logs samples into LIMS by assigning the appropriate analytical test codes to each sample in accordance with the chain of custody.
  • Communicates sample information to client services and lab operations to resolve issues and clarify any ambiguity on the COC.
  • Packages and ships samples for subcontracting.
  • Maintains all required documentation with accuracy and clarity.
  • Performs all required quality verifications, ensuring best quality.
  • Provides excellent customer service both internal and external clients.
  • Performs other duties as required.
