About The Position

Hiring rate $23.802/hour minimum. Additional $3.00/hour facility differential offered for hours worked. We want you to join our team! The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) employs nearly 2,300 team members operating nine institutions statewide, which house approximately 5,800 inmates. Requirements

  • At least one year of post high school coursework/training in health, chemistry, biology, or related field and one year of experience in a scientific laboratory
  • Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test.
  • Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer at least one year of experience in phlebotomy and/or specimen collection.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares reagents, compounds, solutions, cultures, or catalysts for use in testing and/or processing samples.
  • Operates, calibrates, and cleans or performs minor repairs to laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Records or enters and maintain documents/data on daily analysis activities and findings to comply with record keeping requirements and to ensure information is available for future study and/or presentation.
  • Uses electronic medical record system for scheduling and documenting laboratory specific items.
  • Performs phlebotomy and collects other specimen for laboratory testing.
  • Gathers information to assist with process improvement of laboratory/clinic processes.
