The QC Laboratory Technician (Lab Tech) is responsible for supporting daily laboratory operations to maintain optimal laboratory throughput. Such support includes collaborating with other site departments to facilitate sample coordination activities and working with laboratory personnel to ensure samples, reference standards, microbiological media, and reagents within the laboratory are managed per procedural and regulatory requirements. The Lab Tech will also support daily laboratory readiness activities, such as performing daily instrument checks, preparation of laboratory solutions, performing scheduled cleaning, laboratory workstation stocking, maintaining laboratory glassware as well as providing back-up support to the stability storage and administration team. The role can be trained to perform basic GMP laboratory testing activities, such as simple utility or entry level assays as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or Associates Degree in a Life Science, with a minimum of two years related experience.
  • Bachelor (4-year college) degree in a life science.

  • Experience with electronic laboratory management systems (E.g., LIMS, LES, MODA, ELN).
  • Experience with Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with TrackWise and/or Veeva.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other site departments via process team meetings and other scheduling tools, to coordinate sample delivery to the QC laboratory.
  • Receive samples in laboratory information management system (LIMS) and consumables inventory management system (CIMS).
  • Perform sample and reference standard reconciliation.
  • Perform sample disposition and disposal.
  • Receive, label, store, and manage laboratory media, reagents, and consumables.
  • Supports ordering and inventory restocking as needed.
  • Maintain laboratory glassware/parts washer.
  • Perform daily balance and pipette calibration checks.
  • Perform daily Milli-Q system checks.
  • Prepare general laboratory solutions and buffers according to approved methods and documentation requirements.
  • Lead sample submission process for samples sent from RTP to third party/external laboratories.
  • Lead sample receipt process for samples submitted to RTP from other Lilly sites.
  • Provide back up support to the stability administrative team, including stability sample pulls and stability sample management.
  • Execute scheduled cleaning for laboratory equipment (e.g., biosafety cabinets, incubators, refrigerators, and storage units) per approved procedures.
  • Respond to temperature excursions related to sample and material storage units.
  • Perform laboratory instrument standardizations, as needed.
