What are we looking for? The Laboratory Technician - Petroleum is responsible for testing various petroleum and petrochemical, crude and refined products, to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Key duties include prepping, and testing samples, operating/calibrating equipment, documenting results in LIMS, troubleshooting issues, maintaining strict safety protocols in the lab, and the occasional transport of lab materials. Shift/Schedule: 40 hours per week, overtime as needed, including weekends, and public holidays, as needed. The below can be a selected shift that the successful candidate chooses to work: 5 days/week 9pm to 5am 10pm to 6am 11pm to 7am 4 days per week 9pm to 7am 10 pm to 8am 11pm to 9am Monday through Friday 8hrs/day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10hrs/day Salary & Benefits Information: In addition to competitive compensation packages, when working with Intertek you can expect benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous vacation / sick time (PTO), tuition reimbursement and more.

Requirements

High School Degree
Ability to multi-task in high production testing areas
Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
Must possess good math and observation skills
Must demonstrate excellent team communication, coordination and cooperation
Must demonstrate ability to follow standard and non-standard procedures
Must demonstrate ability to utilize non-complex and complex instrumentation
Must be able to work overtime as business needs dictate
Ability to regularly lift/carry up to 15 pounds
Ability to occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time

Nice To Haves

Degree in Science Field
Strong mechanical aptitude
Proficiency using LIMS applications
Strong computer aptitude
Previous/Current experience working in the Petroleum Testing Laboratory space is highly desired

Responsibilities

Perform numerous chemical and physical tests based on American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) methods or accepted industry standards in multiple test areas
Perform equipment calibration, maintenance and basic troubleshooting
Maintain quality records, control charts, and lab supply inventories
Record data on appropriate data sheets and report data to LIMS system
Participate in cross training as well as Interlaboratory Study Samples
Clean glassware and test equipment
Prepare reagents as needed
Comply with safety, quality and housekeeping requirements
Occasional transport of Lab Materials, to offsite locations
