Performs research laboratory assignments, various and diversified in nature, in accordance with standard practices and procedures. The individual will be part of a research team working to understand the biology of acute myeloid leukemia using cutting edge technologies. Duties will include laboratory work related to molecular and cellular biology in the fields of stem cell biology and cancer biology, with a focus on hematological disorders. The individual will perform a variety of moderately complex laboratory experiments. Position requires excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. College level training in cellular and/or molecular biology are desirable. Initially, this individual will perform assignments working with regular supervision from the Project Director or the designee. Over time, this individual will develop independence in planning and performing experiments. - This position is uniquely suited as a launching point for research (PhD) or medicine (MD), and enables entry into a future career in cancer and stem cell biology (both academia and industry). Procedures performed: Stem cell culture procedures and genetic manipulation of cells (including retro- and lentiviral techniques). RNA isolation and RT-QPCR, protein isolation, gel electrophoresis, flow cytometry, immunofluorescent analyses and animal husbandry.
