About The Position

The Laboratory Technician II at Saybolt Core Lab is responsible for performing routine laboratory tests under supervision to determine the chemical or physical characteristics as designated by clients. This role involves assisting senior personnel, operating laboratory equipment, conducting basic analytical tests, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
• Two to four years of related experience and/or training preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructional and technical materials.
• Ability to write reports and correspondence clearly.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
• Familiarity with basic computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet programs.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand all analysis and safety standards in English, including ASTM, UOP, IP and other analytical standards.
• Assist senior laboratory personnel in setting up, adjusting, and operating laboratory equipment.
• Perform basic analytical tests from well-defined standards and procedures as assigned by the Laboratory Manager.
• Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment.
• Assist in calibrating laboratory instruments according to applicable standards.
• Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
• Exercise procedural, safety, and quality requirements specified in the Laboratory Manual and company policies.
• Attend training and pass examinations in petroleum, chemical, and gas analysis, including safety training.
• Complete laboratory raw data sheets and make accurate entries into laboratory computer programs.
