About The Position

The Laboratory Technician II position at Saybolt involves performing routine laboratory tests under close supervision to determine the chemical or physical characteristics as designated by clients. The role requires adherence to safety and quality standards while assisting senior laboratory personnel and maintaining laboratory equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
  • Two to four years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructional and technical materials.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence clearly.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and interpret data.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with basic computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet programs.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand all analysis and safety standards in English, including ASTM, UOP, IP and other analytical standards.
  • Assist senior laboratory personnel in setting up, adjusting, and operating laboratory equipment.
  • Perform basic analytical tests from well-defined standards and procedures as assigned by the Laboratory Manager.
  • Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment.
  • Assist in calibrating laboratory instruments according to applicable standards.
  • Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
  • Exercise procedural, safety, and quality requirements specified in the Laboratory Manual and company policies.
  • Attend training and pass examinations in petroleum, chemical, and gas analysis.
  • Complete laboratory raw data sheets and make accurate entries into laboratory computer programs.
