Performs molecular genetic assays and general laboratory maintenance for the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) team.
Carries out complex laboratory procedures such as library preparations, amplification, enrichment, library dilutions, and loading of sequencers for the NGS team.
Operates and maintains sophisticated laboratory equipment, including Beckman, Tecan, Echo, and Mantis automated liquid handlers; Agilent Tapestation; and Next Generation Sequencing Instrumentation.
Assists with special projects for validation and implementation of new NGS products
Maintains records of laboratory work and sample tracking
Follows all laboratory protocols and policies, including quality control and quality system activities, and documents appropriately all records, deviations, and corrective actions as required.
Monitors and maintains supply inventories and reagent stocks.
Proactively identifies and assists with troubleshooting issues with assays, equipment, or procedures on the pipeline.
Contributes to organization and cleanliness of the team and lab workspaces.
4- year Bachelor degree or higher in a Biological Science or related field; or equivalent education and experience meeting requirements of regulatory agencies
Computer literacy of Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in writing
3+ years of general laboratory experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, qPCR, NGS, microarrays arrays, DNA extractions, capillary electrophoresis, etc.)
Previous experience with Next Generation Sequencing platforms and procedures
