We're committed to bringing passion and customer focus to the business GENERAL SUMMARY Provide technical and administrative support to the Fitness for Duty (FFD) program, to include the collection of breath and urine specimens and maintenance of documentation in accordance with 10CFR Part 26, federal and state regulatory guidelines as applied by NRC, OSHA, HHS and the WAC. Responsible to conduct and certify others in specimen collection; responsible for calibration of collection equipment. Must be willing to be called out for off-hour site collections as needed. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide technical expertise in the collection, processing, documentation, and handling of urine and breath specimens. Collect and process urine samples for analysis in accordance with established procedures. Perform analysis of breath samples to include analysis of data and interpretation of results. Ensure proper handling of specimens, maintain the blind sample program, authorize, and document transport to NIDA certified labs, in compliance with federal and state regulatory guidelines as required by the NRC, DOT, OSHA, HHS and the WAC. Responsible for training and certifying other Lab Technicians in specimen collections processes, procedures in accordance with NRC requirements. Requires obtaining and maintaining Train the Trainer certification. Schedules and coordinates test appointments on a regular basis to ensure the appropriate individual is tested in a timely and confidential manner. Serve as a point of contact to all levels of employees, management, contractors, and other organizations to ensure individuals are notified and appointments are coordinated. Maintain FFD equipment and perform limited troubleshooting and calibration of instruments. Provide technical expertise in the operation, performance, accuracy checks, and calibration of testing equipment in accordance with the manufacturers’ specifications. Maintain required certifications. Use independent judgment in response to unusual sample types or other non-standard collection issues. Requires obtaining and maintaining Calibration Technician Collector and Instructor certifications. Maintain FFD collection and testing facility supplies, equipment, and record systems, and assure that strict confidentiality and safeguards are in place at all times. Assist in refining existing systems to improve efficiency or cost effectiveness. Assist in FFD procedure revisions and development. Remain current in FFD issues in applied technologies, equipment, and trends in the drug culture. Assist in evaluating existing instructions against current and new regulatory requirements and the results of program audits or reviews. As needed, act as Subject Matter Expert/expert witness in hearings and proceedings. Must participate on the Emergency Response team (ERO) when designated Must support the biennial refueling outage
