Triage: Receive and record all specimens/slides/blocks into daily receipt log, to include coordination with Clinical Pathology Triage for additional specimens. Prioritze and sort specimens by type, routing to various staging areas, Reconcile and receive incoming packing lists/manifests. Utilize various systems to handle specimen issues as identified. Registration: Ensure accuracy of patient demographics including verification of acceptable insurance. Build patient record in laboratory information system when required, entering all information provided. Communicate all issues with co-workers and Client Services to provide best service to Clients and patient. AP Accessions: Accession specimens and consults in laboratory information system with complete order and test information. Examine and verify materials received meet laboratory standards for anatomic pathology. Stage slides/blocks and other specimens and track to designated laboratory department / location. Document problem specimens and resolve issues. Responsible for creation and editing of draft pathology reports for all case types. Update case reports following established departmental procedures. CP Accessions: Receive Clinical Pathology laboratory samples and route to designated departments/locations prior to laboratory analysis and testing. Unpacks specimens from branches or ports and routes specimens by type to various staging areas. Slide Control: Receive and track material to and from UF Health Pathology offices at other locations. Maintain records of slides received and distribution points. Assist intake personnel in locating material and completing outstanding tasks. Provide back-up coverage to mail-outs.
