About The Position

The Laboratory Technician I, using general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Quality Assurance programs and SOP's, supports laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies. Full-time entry level position with Benefits, Monday - Friday. 8:00am-4:30pm. Brief weekend work will be required approximately one weekend per month on a rotating schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples from processing
  • Accepts and signs for deliveries
  • Assists in unloading shipments from delivery truck
  • Opens coolers and inspects contents of shipments
  • Checks documentation to ensure all samples are accounted for
  • Distributes samples in different departments as appropriate
  • Follows strict safety and quality control procedures
  • Stores, restocks, and shelves samples as necessary
  • Ensures that work area is clean and organized
  • Enters records in LIMS system
  • Demonstrates and promotes the company vision
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Applies GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate
  • Performs routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs
  • Retrieves samples from Sample Control for analysis
  • Preparation of samples using standard techniques
  • Performing chemical analysis using standard techniques
  • Calculating data
  • Recording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor
  • Performing routine instrument maintenance
  • Responsible for performing job functions in compliance with Eurofins environmental health safety and quality assurance standards
  • Responsible for general housekeeping in his/her work area
  • Ability to become trained and competent on complex instrumentation including but not limited to gas chromatography, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, atomic absorption, ICP, and instrument specific data systems
  • Works under close supervision using routine and standard methods
  • Aliquots and weighs samples
  • Washes glassware
  • Performs microbiology analysis by Idexx methods
  • Handles and processes samples following aseptic procedures
  • Prepares reagents and media
  • Prepares dilutions
  • Records and tracks incubation times
  • Resolves discrepancies and anomalies to ensure samples are properly labeled
  • Prepares general laboratory paperwork such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and laboratory logbooks
  • Washes laboratory glassware to prepare for next day's samples
  • Stocks laboratory supplies
  • Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Cleans work area(s) to maintain a safe working environment
  • Assists other laboratory areas as needed
