About The Position

Requirements

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by two years of college-level coursework in the assigned instructional field.
• Two years of increasingly responsible experience working with materials and equipment in the assigned instructional field.
• Knowledge of operational characteristics of laboratory apparatus and equipment.
• Understanding of safety and health laws affecting laboratory activities.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in closing student equity gaps and engaging in equitable practices.
• Knowledge of emergency first aid procedures.
• Familiarity with inventory and purchasing processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructors in developing instructional materials and preparing study aids.
• Prepare for laboratory demonstrations and assist students in using laboratory tools and equipment.
• Provide assistance to students on laboratory and course-related matters.
• Maintain a clean and safe learning environment, including cleaning and minor repairs of laboratory equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and ensure operability of equipment supporting living organisms.
• Monitor and dispose of hazardous waste and maintain safety data sheets.
• Care for living plants, animals, and cultures as assigned.
• Prepare displays on bulletin boards and assist in ordering supplies and equipment.
• Respond to inquiries and relay messages for faculty and staff.
• Train and provide work direction to student workers as assigned.
