About The Position
Under the supervision of the Specimen Control Coordinator, Section Supervisor, or Director, the Technician Assistant receives and distributes those specimens that are brought directly to the Specimen Control area or those that arrive via pneumatic tube. He/She performs routine urinalysis (with the exception of microscopy); prepares specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories; and performs Quality Control and preventive maintenance procedures designated for Specimen Control, with documentation of same; and assists in pre-analytical and post-analytical Laboratory processes. This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, skills, efforts, requirements or working conditions associated with the job.
