The Laboratory Technician 2 ( Lab Support – Media Prep) is a f ull-time permanent position, there, this position follows a Monday through Friday 7 AM to 4 PM work schedule. This position is located in Wilsonville, Oregon.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience performing routine, standardized analytical tests and laboratory procedures in accordance with well-defined written instructions AND high school courses in chemistry, biology, mathematics, or any course which included laboratory work.
  • Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • An Associate's Degree in Laboratory Science may substitute for one year of the required experience
  • Some walking & heavy lifting no more than 30 lb maybe required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a laboratory setting (not just academic labs)
  • Experience preparing and maintaining records of microbiological media and reagent preparation
  • Experience using analytical tools: pipets, balances, volumetric glassware, etc
  • Experience keeping accurate and legible records
  • Experience in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory
  • Able to work alone or with a team as tasks require

Responsibilities

  • Prepares various microbiological media (broths, tubes, plates) used for identifying and quantitating bacteria of interest and concern.
  • Makes chemical reagents used in the preparation of media.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records
  • Operates autoclaves, pH meters, dispensing units, balances, glassware washers.
  • Performs quality control as needed of supplies.
  • Serves as back-up analyst for microbiology sections by performing standardized tests on food, dairy, water, and other.
