About the position
The Laboratory Technician 1 position at Russell Standard focuses on product analysis and data collection to ensure the quality of asphalt and aggregate materials. This role is essential for maintaining compliance with specifications and contributing to the production of safe and durable roadways. The technician will work primarily in a laboratory setting, conducting various tests and analyses to support the company's mission of road preservation and asphalt science.
Responsibilities
- Performs daily quality control testing
- Conducts analysis of aggregate samples
- Performs lab production and testing of asphalt emulsions and cutbacks, and evaluates asphalt mix design
- Ensures compliance with job, agency, or state specifications with routine asphalt testing
- Performs data collection and reporting to meet job and agency specifications
- Maintains an organized and clean lab
- Follows all safety policies and practices
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Solid math and reading skills, and the ability to understand technical manuals
- Well established organizational skills with strong attention to detail, record-keeping skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Customer focused attitude
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
Nice-to-haves
- Associate's degree or higher (ex. Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering, etc.)
- Experience in and a strong knowledge of asphalt and aggregate specifications
- Certification in asphalt and aggregates
- Experience in asphalt quality control or as a Certified Aggregate Technician
