Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Laboratory/Technical Assistant. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, this Laboratory/Technical Assistant provides technical support in a Drosophila neurobiology laboratory in the Department of Biological Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences-Newark. The laboratory conducts research in genetics and cell biology using Drosophila (fruit flies) as a model organism. The research is focused on understanding the genetic and molecular contributions to Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. This position is responsible for and not limited to the following: Performing laboratory experiments using and building on knowledge of established techniques of cellular and molecular biology, including methods to analyze proteins and DNA derived from Drosophila and E. coli. Performing molecular and biochemical work, fly genetics and dissection, fly husbandry, tissue preparation, and optimal imaging. Using biochemical purification techniques, including immunoprecipitation and immunoblotting. Making media and solutions.
