Works in the Microbiology laboratory under the supervision of Medical Laboratory Scientists, assisting with some elements of clinical testing and set up, maintenance, inventory and other general duties.

  • Wipe down all hoods and countertops and document.
  • Check to make sure all temperatures were taken and alert tech if readings out of range.
  • Check/Sub chocolate QC organisms.
  • Enter Concentration/Grinding Charges in Cerner.
  • Stock all benches/areas with all supplies for the day.
  • Check supply of Thio Broth and prepare more if necessary.
  • Discard old specimens.
  • Check Miscellaneous Maintenance Calendar ¿ perform minor equipment maintenance and/or tasks each day as required.
  • Perform Daily Maintenance on the BacT/Alert, ePlex, GeneXpert and Microscan.
  • Set up Microscan Panels as they are ready.
  • Manage and order inventory as needed, put away supplies, rotate stock.
  • Initiate workup for positive blood cultures (pull bottle, make smears, plate to media).
  • Setup of other specimens' cultures and slides, plating onto media.
  • Stain any Gram stain smears.
  • Load specimens on analyzers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Will consider students currently enrolled in an accredited laboratory science program.
  • Will consider associates and/or bachelor's degree graduates in chemistry or biological sciences.
  • Clear Communication Skills Both Written and Verbal
  • Able To Keep Confidential Information Regarding Patients, Team Members
  • Able To Withstand Crisis Situations
  • Has Skills to Provides Customer Service to Patients, Team Members and Visitors
  • Knowledge And Experience with Electronic Health Records
