Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent; experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in pathology lab work or exposure to a clinical laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in surgical gross room including specimen pick-up, accessioning, labeling, staining, and photography of specimens.
• Assist with gross room setup, handling of specimens, and general cleanup.
• Receive, properly triage, and accession specimens; print and collate cassettes.
• Follow established protocols for assisting with frozen sections, including cryomicrotomy.
• Prepare solutions, reagents, and stains according to standard formulas and procedures.
• Fill specimen containers.
