Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s degree, preferred
2+ years of experience working in a Laboratory
Experience working in Microbiology Laboratory, preferred.
Laboratory software
Strong verbal and written communication
Aseptic technique and sterile consciousness
General laboratory bench techniques
Recognizes variables that could affect test results

Responsibilities

Laboratory services duties (specimen receipt, specimen acceptability, entering information into LIMS, ordering/receipt of supplies, report distribution)
Perform non-licensed testing, interpret results, and review pending reports
Perform quality control of microorganisms, reagents, and equipment in the laboratory
Obtain and file specimen rejection forms and revision requests as needed
Identification of microorganisms from solid and liquid media
Microbial reads, Gram Stain, Vitek instrumentation
Documents and maintains all internal customer requests, discrepancies, complaints, and escalates to leadership for resolution
Adheres to all regulatory, safety, and sampling requirements
Assists in mentoring and training other team members
Other duties as assigned
