Requirements
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Training as a unit clerk, medical assistant, medical secretary, or phlebotomist is preferred.
- Coursework in biology and/or chemistry is considered.
Responsibilities
- The Laboratory Support Technician processes laboratory specimens for testing
- Evaluates specimen acceptability
- Enters patient and test information into the computer
- Responds to requests for information from customers
- Serves in the Laboratory's main communication and customer relations center
- The employee monitors test requests in the order/entry system
- This position contributes directly to patient care by accurately and timely processing specimens and dispersing information both in and outside the Laboratory.
