The Laboratory Support Coordinator is responsible for the efficient operation of the Central Processing Area functions, Phlebotomy area, point person for UNOS, BioTouch liaison, SOP revisions for CPA and for maintenance of client satisfaction. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Ensures the efficient and effective operation of the Laboratory Central Processing Area. This includes training and directing other laboratory employees that may rotate through this section. Oversees phlebotomy room, SOPs, stock supplies and ensure timely draws are performed. Functions as data coordinator and UNOS liaison responsible for completion of all patient related UNOS forms. Oversees BioTouch test kit outsourcing. Determines, proposes changes and makes necessary adjustments to the outsourcing system. Participates in the annual safety assessment for the laboratory supply usage as a representative on the MTN sharps committee. Monitors and logs in all laboratory tests and samples following quality assurance guidelines established by Midwest Transplant Network. Aliquots and stores antibody screen samples. Establishes and maintains a professional service business interaction with the clients of the laboratory. This includes handling service related (non-technical) problems and communicating client feedback to the Laboratory leadership. Responsible for sending out final report to requesting clients via secure access. Responsible for the accurate and timely ordering of BioTouch sample kits. Appropriately and effectively communicates lab testing of STAT DSA’s and crossmatches with lab staff during morning meeting and throughout the day as needed. Maintains and modifies UNOS listings for all MTN affiliated transplant centers in conjunction with those centers and the MTN lab. Manages department supplies and inventory. Maintains a clean and well-stocked CPA and phlebotomy work area. Communicates effectively with other staff through actively listing, sharing shift hand-off details via lab distribution email, verbal communication, and updating the communication board to ensure continuity of workload among team members. Demonstrates mastery of proper basic laboratory techniques, attention to detail, and limited number of errors. Identifies and reports problems, which may adversely affect test performance and patient outcome. Report the problem(s) to laboratory leadership.
