About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Laboratory Supervisor at our Coatesville location. As a Laboratory Supervisor in our chemical and metallurgical laboratory. This individual will ensure laboratory work is completed safely, accurately, and in a timely manner to deliver quality products to our customers. Summary of Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. Work effectively within a team environment using clear and effective communication skills. Supervise, train, schedule, and manage the safety/general discipline of hourly unionized employees. Develop and implement processes to ensure timely and accurate results and drive continuous improvement. Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits for Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards, including ISO 17025 accreditation through A2LA. Monitor product and process variability and performance to standards. Write and maintain work instructions for laboratory procedures within the area of responsibility. Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot laboratory, sample preparation, and testing equipment in chemical and metallurgical laboratory. Manage capital/upgrade projects within the laboratory. Communicate with upstream and downstream operations and external contractors to coordinate work, deliveries, and services. Various other duties, as needed, to support the business. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Technical Sciences or Engineering.
  • Minimum one year of hands‑on experience in a metals testing laboratory.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively within a team-oriented, fast-paced, and diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated success in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Chemistry.
  • 3 years of experience in an industrial lab setting.
  • Experience in atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP, XRF, OES).
  • Experience with LECO elemental analyzers (C, S, N, O).
  • Experience performing wet chemical analysis.
  • Experience with steel production is a plus.
