Take on this critical leadership position within our Microbiology laboratory to ensure effective processing and analysis of specimens, and reporting of associated results, to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, following all Regulatory requirements and Hospital policies and Safety procedures. In this role, and under the directions of our Microbiology Manager and Directors of Service, you will coordinate a wide variety of administrative, fiscal, personnel and technical activities to ensure efficient operation of all Microbiology sections. Channel your critical and creative thinking through the initiation of new procedures as well as studies, in addition to refining and modifying established methods and techniques while providing direction and supervision to Lead Technologists. You will also be an adept problem-solver through addressing inefficiencies regarding laboratory functions and working with the Leadership team, as well as staff to resolve identified problems in this highly visible position. Utilizing your regulatory expertise, you will coordinate and prepare for site visits by accrediting/regulatory agencies. Channel your interpersonal skills through supervising and overseeing laboratory personnel to ensure effective operations. Furthermore, you will provide work direction, assign work, answer job related questions, orient new personnel, and oversee on-the-job training, and education of interns, residents, and fellows. Supervise your team through the completion of performance evaluations and take appropriate personnel actions to ensure adequate staff coverage. Leverage your QA/QC skillset through designing and implementing appropriate quality control programs and conduct follow-up to ensure effectiveness of clinical laboratory activities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in medical technology or equivalent curriculum.
  • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License from New York State Education Department.
  • Minimum of 4 years of clinical laboratory experience or 2 years with a Master’s degree or 1 year with a MD, DO or doctoral degree in a chemical, physical or biological science.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree and/or specialized training in Microbiology.
  • ASCP Certification.
  • 2 years of Microbiology Supervisory experience.
  • Extensive experience with laboratory information systems and medical record informatics, and clinical decision support software.

Responsibilities
