Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in biology, chemistry, or related biological or life science field required
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role within a clinical and/or research laboratory setting
  • 5+ years of post-graduation clinical laboratory experience required
  • 2+ years clinical laboratory experience in histopathology and anatomic pathology
  • Experience performing immunohistochemistry using immunohistochemistry autostainers such as the DAKO Link48, Dako Omnis, Leica Bond Rx, Ventana Benchmark Ultra and Ventana Discovery Ultra
  • Experience with GxP regulations highly preferred
  • Understanding of standards and requirements of a CAP/CLIA accredited laboratory

Nice To Haves

  • Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure on time production of Laboratory services, including preanalytical aspects (tissue processing, tissue embedding, sectioning both formalin fixed paraffin embedded and frozen, and blood processing) and testing services (H&E, IHC, ISH, FISH and IF staining)
  • Provide oversight of laboratory processes with involvement in improvement initiatives, while ensuring and maintaining compliance with GxP, CAP and CLIA requirements, CellCarta SOPs and industry standards
  • Work closely with other operational, quality, and project management teams to ensure the highest level of operational efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Provide leadership and guidance to laboratory personnel
  • Train employees and perform competency testing
  • Ensure employees are up to date on training requirements
  • Maintain laboratory safety practices and identify and remediate safety risks and hazards
  • Participate in laboratory audits and inspections (CAP, CLIA, client, and internal), respond to findings, and remediate concerns
  • Maintain equipment and ensure maintenance is on time and effective
  • Perform IQ, OP, PQ for new laboratory equipment
  • Perform laboratory bench work and testing as needed
  • Monitor laboratory supply and reagent inventory and oversee maintenance of the tissue bank
  • Attend regular staff meetings
