About The Position

You will ensure all samples are accurately labeled, entered into the system, and routed to the appropriate departments while maintaining strict attention to detail and adherence to laboratory protocols. Your work will directly support clinical teams by helping deliver reliable results that impact patient care every day. Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy Experience
  • Laboratory Specimen Processing Experience
  • Experience with computers, Electronic Medical Records

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the processing and preparation for delivery of specimens to technical sections within the lab, various reference laboratories with which Trinity is affiliated, and State Hygienic Labs.
  • Identifies and distinguishes between government, and commercial payors in order to release clinic orders from Epic EMR to Sunquest LIS
  • Transcribe orders and complete payor entry in Epic for UPH At Home, and UPH Hospice patient specimens
  • Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
  • Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.
  • Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.
  • Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
