About The Position

University Laboratory School Instructor/Teaching Associate 3 or Teaching Associate 2 (Elementary Art) University Laboratory School Instructor or Teaching Associate 3 The University Laboratory School was founded in 1915 as a model demonstration school to provide/serve as: an exemplary education for its students; a model educational environment; a center for educational innovation and research; professional development opportunities for the state's educators; clinical teaching experiences for pre-service teachers. The position of University Laboratory School Instructor will serve as the lead educator in the designated area of discipline (Elementary Art). As a ULS Instructor/Teaching Associate 3, you will seek maximum student achievement through the development, implementation and demonstration of cutting-edge research, innovation and instructional practices. 85% Planning, Teaching, & Classroom Management: Teach classes, daily, on assigned content area; Plan and deliver lessons that are aligned with the school's curriculum and meet state standards, through the use of engaging, research-based and innovative practices; Create and maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment that adheres to the school's mission, vision, and policies/procedures (as outlined in the faculty/staff and parent/student handbooks); Communicates responsibly and professionally with all students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership. 10% Service & Professional Development: Participate and present in workshops, conferences, and other learning initiatives, in order to stay updated on effective teaching practices, cutting-edge research, and innovation in the field of education; Attend all required professional development, faculty meetings, and other in-service activities; Attend other school-related events as necessary; Consistent enforcement of expectations communicated by the University Laboratory School Administration, including written school/university policies and procedures. 5% Other: Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor and/or school leadership; Complete all mandatory employee training, certificates and/or professional licensures as required; Complete annual review of all school handbooks and other necessary documents, policies, and procedures. University Laboratory Teaching Associate 2 The position of University Laboratory School Teaching Associate 2 will assist and support the lead classroom instructor in planning, teaching, classroom management and other activities. 85% Planning, Teaching, & Classroom Management: Assists and supports the lead instructor in providing classroom instruction; Assists in delivering lessons that are aligned with state standards and curriculum, through the use of engaging, research-based and innovative practices; Helps to create and maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment that adheres to the school's mission, vision, and policies/procedures (as outlined in the faculty/staff and parent/student handbooks); Communicates responsibly and professionally with all students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership. 10% Service & Professional Development: Participate and present in workshops, conferences, and other learning initiatives, in order to stay updated on effective teaching practices, cutting-edge research, and innovation in the field of education; Attend all required professional development, faculty meetings, and other in-service activities; Attend other school-related events as necessary; Consistent enforcement of expectations communicated by the University Laboratory School Administration, including written school/university policies and procedures. 5% Other: Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor and/or school leadership; Complete all mandatory employee training, certificates and/or professional licensures as required; Complete annual review of all school handbooks and other necessary documents, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Must have a valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate prior to hire or must provide the equivalent from another state and update certificate to Louisiana, no later than seven (7) days before the effective hire date
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field with 1 year teaching experience

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in related field and 3 or more years of classroom teaching experience
