About The Position

This is for a full-time processing technician in the Pathology laboratory. The hours may vary slightly due to staffing constraints and workload. There is also a supply component for this role for the clinical laboratory. The position involves performing laboratory specimen processing consisting of receiving, sorting, assessing, and distributing specimens of blood, urine, stool, and other biological fluids as well as pathological samples. The technician performs moderately complexity lab testing as needed (if applicable) and may be cross-trained in minor histological procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or associate degree in laboratory science preferred but not required.
• High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
• Recent training and experience in laboratory technology strongly preferred.
• Ability to communicate and effectively exchange information with laboratory staff, nursing staff, physicians, physician office staff, patients, patient's families, other customers, and guests.
• Requires judgment including prioritizing tasks according to medical urgency, efficiency, and good guest relations skills.
• Stroke education is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory specimen processing including receiving, sorting, assessing, and distributing specimens.
