About The Position

Labcorp, a leading global life sciences company, is advancing patient health and powering confident decisions through diagnostics and drug development. As part of our strategic transformation, we are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Laboratory Operations Director to oversee and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our laboratory operations within DNA Identity/Consumer Genetics in Burlington, NC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, in a relevant scientific discipline preferred; advanced degree (MBA, MHA, or related) preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in clinical laboratory operations, project management, or service delivery.
  • Proven success managing cross-functional teams and driving enterprise-level transformation.
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial logistics, customer service operations, and laboratory workflows.
  • Experience with vendor management, automation technologies, and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a matrixed environment and influence across departments.
  • Familiarity with UAT processes, warehouse operations, and regulated environments (CLIA, CAP, IVDR) preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership across seven operational teams: PreAnalytical, Customer Service (HLA, CG, Paternity), Clinical Trial Project Management, Purchasing & Warehouse (DNA/CG), UAT, Logistics, and Automations.
  • Drive enterprise-wide alignment and execution across service lines to ensure consistent delivery and measurable ROI.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce administrative overhead, and accelerate decision-making.
  • Oversee vendor and resource management to support long-term innovation and sustainable growth.
  • Collaborate with IT, Quality, and Regulatory stakeholders to ensure operational readiness and compliance.
  • Champion automation and digital transformation initiatives to enhance scalability and delivery speed.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics to monitor efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Support business continuity planning and risk mitigation across operational domains.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements to drive best practices in laboratory operations.
