About The Position

The Laboratory Operational Assistant is primarily responsible for performing duties within the central laboratory related to inventory, administrative reporting tasks, management of samples, manual processing and handling of samples, and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned. Responsibilities include ensuring that lab supplies are ordered and stocked, maintaining inventory documentation, and communicating with laboratory management about supply delivery delays. The role also involves working within the Purchase Ordering system, maintaining supply areas in audit-ready conditions, and providing support to the Reporting Officer and Sample Management as needed. The position requires adherence to lab policies and protocols, and the ability to read and interpret internal documents.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED acceptable, Associate of Applied Science preferred for Level I/II.
  • Associate of Applied Science acceptable, Bachelor of Applied Science preferred for Level III.
  • Laboratory experience is beneficial but no prior experience is needed for Level I/II.
  • Minimum 1 year clinical laboratory experience required for Level III.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that lab supplies are ordered and stocked.
  • Maintain inventory documentation and communicate delays in supply delivery.
  • Work within the Purchase Ordering system and ensure paperwork is available for accounts payable.
  • Follow up with vendors on pending incoming orders.
  • Maintain supply areas in audit-ready conditions.
  • Process supplies from receiving to shelves accurately.
  • Maintain accurate accountability of inventory within the assigned database.
  • Ensure proper handling of receipts and purchase orders.
  • Provide support to the Reporting Officer as needed.
  • Support Sample Management including unpacking, accessioning, flow and storage of samples.
  • Perform manual processing of samples in the laboratory.
  • Adhere to policies and protocols in the lab.
  • Perform housecleaning and laboratory cleaning as required.
  • Communicate with other lab assistants to complete daily activities efficiently.
