About The Position
The NYC DOHMH Public Health Laboratory is seeking to hire a qualified candidate to serve as a Laboratory Microbiologist. This position involves performing high and moderate complexity laboratory testing and procedures on clinical and environmental specimens submitted to the PHL. The candidate will use manual and automated methods and specialized instrumentation within the BSL-2 laboratory and high containment laboratory (BSL-3). The role also includes maintaining laboratory inventory supplies and equipment, participating in cross-training programs, and assisting with urgent tests during off-hours as needed. The candidate will be responsible for retrieving and assisting in shipping specimens and samples to the CDC and other partners for additional testing and projects, maintaining a program of quality control, and using the Laboratory Information System for data entry and test results entry.
