About The Position

The Laboratory Medical Director and Chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Vassar Brothers Medical Center is a full-time leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of pathologists and managing laboratory operations. This position involves both administrative duties and active participation in clinical pathology work, ensuring high-quality patient care and effective collaboration with clinical staff.

Requirements

• MD or DO with completion of AP/CP Residency training.
• Board Certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
• 2+ years of Pathology experience, with some Medical Director or Leadership experience preferred.
• Subspecialty interest or Fellowship preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and a strong desire to interact with clinicians and laboratory staff.
• Proficiency in the performance of frozen sections, cytology interpretations (both GYN and non-GYN), and rapid on-site cytology assessments.
• Valid NY State Medical License.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Laboratory Medical Director and Department Chair for a staff of 6 Pathologists.
• Oversee laboratory operations and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with other pathologists on sign-out responsibilities.
• Engage with clinicians and laboratory staff to enhance communication and workflow.
• Participate in the pathology residency program and educational activities.
