  • Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
  • Maintains the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and records in compliance with CLIA, CAP, TJC and OSHA regulations and/or standards.
  • Develops, reviews, and updates LIS policies and procedures.
  • Provides technical support for computer problems in the laboratory; troubleshoots and resolves computer problems (both hardware and software).
  • Coordinates computer upgrades and projects, ensuring system remains current with latest vendor releases (both hardware and software).
  • Installs and maintains interfaces (middleware and instrument interfaces), including software customization (rules, algorithm builds, and decision matrices).
  • Design, run, analyze, and interpret LIS data and reports in partnership with laboratory section leaders for laboratory quality initiatives.
  • Provides in-service training for laboratory personnel, as needed.
  • Recommends and implements changes to improve efficiency, quality, customer satisfaction and overall efficiency of the laboratory.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum 4 years of clinical laboratory science experience or previous Laboratory Information System analyst experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Experience with laboratory computer systems, required; preferably Cerner PathNet.
  • Proven expertise with programming languages, query languages, database management systems, project management tools, and report generation tools, required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, Information Technology, or equivalent, preferred.
  • Additional course work or advanced degree in Information Systems, preferred.
  • California Clinical Lab Scientist License, required preferred.
  • MLT (ASCP), or MLS (ASCP), or equivalent, preferred.
