Summary: The LIMS Specialist is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and supporting the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) through the LIMS implementation project (a project-based role with an estimated tenure of ~2 years). This role ensures the system operates efficiently and meets the needs of the laboratory staff and management. The LIMS Specialist collaborates closely with IT, laboratory personnel, and other stakeholders to optimize workflows and data management. This position is vital for supporting the organization s operational goals by ensuring effective system implementation, maintenance, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree
  • In lieu of degree, 7 years related experience
  • 3-5 years experience in laboratory services, document management, quality assurance, or similar discipline.
  • 1+ years with new software implementation (LIMS, ERP, etc.), configuration, data integration, and/or system validation
  • Strong understanding of laboratory processes and workflows
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Proficiency in creating documentation and providing training
  • Experience working in a regulated industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to communicate in English proficiently (speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension)

  • Certifications: Professional certifications related to Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), or Quality Management (e.g., Six Sigma)

Responsibilities

  • System Management: Oversee the daily development, implementation, and operation of the LIMS, ensuring system stability and performance during the implementation phases of the system.
  • User Support and Training: Provide technical support and training to LIMS users, addressing any issues or questions, and conducting user training sessions.
  • Configuration and Customization: Configure and customize the system through master data and management of service requests from the vendor.
  • Documentation and Process Support: Maintain comprehensive documentation of functional specifications, system configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • System Testing and Validation: Assist in preparing system validation documents and validation test scripts, and participate in validation activities by performing predefined tests, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Data and Integration Management: Gather basic data integration requirements, support the creation of master data management documents, perform regular data audits, and work with IT to integrate the LIMS with other laboratory instruments and software systems.
  • Continuous Improvement and Reporting: Identify opportunities for system improvements, implement enhancements to optimize laboratory operations, and assist in creating reporting requirements to generate meaningful insights from LIMS data.
  • Adhere to and promote proper practices and techniques which are consistent with current operating procedures, training requirements, safety practices, and company policies.
  • May perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
