Overview The Laboratory Genetic Counselor Student will provide assistance to the Clinical Genetics Laboratory Directors in case preparation and management. Under the supervision of Laboratory Directors, this individual will utilize clinical and technical knowledge to assist in case preparation, including extracting descriptive human phenotype ontology (HPO) terms for sample analysis, documentation of case results in laboratory databases, process samples for director analysis, and assist with manuscript preparation. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Health Sciences, preferably Genetics and Other
  • Currently attending a certified Genetic Counseling Master's program
  • Individual must be a current master's student.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in clinical laboratory, research, or internship in healthcare and/or life sciences field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize clinical/technical knowledge to prepare cases for sample analysis, including summarizing relevant clinical information and applying appropriate HPO terms.
  • Submit cases for sample analysis.
  • Administrative, Quality Assurance and Improvement activities such as database management.
