About The Position

Designs, maintains, and administers lab educational material for students, lab staff, and allied health professionals. Presents training programs and evaluate effectiveness of programs. Manages staff competencies in a manner that meets regulatory requirements. Performs limited laboratory testing as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree. Specific course work: Medical Technology or related field. In lieu of Bachelors degree, an Associates degree in Medical Technology with 10 years of clinical lab experience may be accepted.
  • Advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Performs procedures requiring judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Recognizes abnormal results or testing problems and discuss with supervisor, physician or medical director.
  • Investigates and solves complex problems.
  • Prioritizes tasks and organizes work flow.
  • Requires excellent written, verbal, and computer skills.
  • Requires excellent decision making skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner.
  • Florida Technologist licensed in Microbiology, Immunohematology, Hematology, Chemistry, Serology.
  • Must have passed one of the following National Certification Exams MT(ASCP) MT(AMT) MT(AAB) CLS(NCA)MT upon hire.
  • Over 5 years technologist experience in a Clinical or Pathology Laboratory

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisors License from State of Florida in all 5 areas: ASCP certification preferred
  • More than five years experience in a clinical or pathology laboratory environment and experienced in training students.
