About The Position
Overview A high-volume acute care hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana is seeking an experienced Laboratory Director to lead all clinical laboratory and phlebotomy operations. This role provides strategic, operational, and regulatory oversight for laboratory services, including blood bank, chemistry, hematology, and microbiology. The Laboratory Director plays a critical leadership role in ensuring quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, staff engagement, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Recent acute care laboratory supervisory or leadership experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a chemical, physical, or biological science
- Active State Medical Technologist license
- ASCP registration (or equivalent recognized certification)

- Experience leading multi-disciplinary laboratory teams in an acute care setting
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership, planning, coordination, and administrative oversight of laboratory and phlebotomy services
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards, including laboratory regulations and quality benchmarks
- Oversee blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and related diagnostic services
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and quality initiatives to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable test results
- Lead, mentor, and develop laboratory leadership and staff teams
- Manage staffing models, productivity, scheduling, and labor utilization
- Collaborate with hospital leadership and clinical stakeholders to support patient care and operational goals
- Monitor departmental performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective action plans
