About The Position

Responsible for the administrative, fiscal, human resources, quality improvement, research activities, strategic planning and regulatory compliance function for the clinical laboratories and Pathology services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • 10+ years of progressive management in laboratory medicine. (Required)
  • Experience complying with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission and/or other applicable regulatory agencies. (Required)
  • Thorough knowledge in all areas of laboratory operation including regulatory and technical aspects. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrated capability to manage a large department operating budget. (Required proficiency)
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills and ability to interact professionally with physicians and administrative staff. (Required proficiency)

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree (Preferred)
  • Medical Technologist (MT-ASCP) (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Institute Director, Division Chiefs, Section Managers to ensure adequate technical and professional services to support clinical needs.
  • Responsible for development and management of new and existing Lab Services at UHCMC through collaboration and advocacy to senior leadership.
  • Responsible for facilitation of operational, technical, regulatory and financial relationship with UHLSF operational leadership and system hospital laboratory and administrative leadership.
  • Fosters collaborative interactions with UHCMC, RBC, SCC clinical and operational leadership
  • Develops training and educational programs to support current employees and build a pipeline for future employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
