Responsibilities

  • Maintain laboratory instruments and department equipment according to OSHA specifications and TAMU policies.
  • Ensure adherence to lab standards and practices to maximize safety and operational effectiveness.
  • Act as the department's liaison between outside labs and students.
  • Coordinate repairs and updates for the lab as needed.
  • Prepare materials for digital scanning and emergency appointments.
  • Review all lab cases for completion criteria and check in/out cases in Axium.
  • Research lab cases to ensure procedures are paid for and turned in on time.
  • Wrap and package casts, inspect lab scripts for accuracy, and file lab script copies.
  • Check for overdue cases and communicate with the lab or students as necessary.
  • Assist laboratory personnel in daily operations and maintain documentation of equipment and incident reports.
  • Re-stock and organize laboratory supplies, maintaining inventory according to manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain stock of laboratory utensils for service research groups.
  • Assist the QA team with rejected cases and fill out Professionalism Deduction Slips.
  • Check voicemail, email, and Axium messages, addressing urgent matters.
  • Assist with scheduling emergency care patients during clinic closures.
  • Provide backup for the lab manager as needed and communicate lab procedures to team members.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and provide updates to team members.
  • Propose ideas to engage customers and increase productivity.
  • Provide training for new laboratory staff on equipment usage.
