About The Position

The Laboratory Coordinator shall perform and demonstrate proficiency and understanding in one or more areas of the clinical laboratory, assistance in instructing other personnel as assigned, performs with a perceptive depth of clinical laboratory tests and procedures which require the exercise of independent judgments and responsibility. Maintains the highest degree of quality patient care at all times. This position is also responsible for LIS. This includes but is not limited to system file maintenance and the maintenance of the ongoing laboratory quality assurance program. Performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states. Follows standardized procedures and helps prepare samples for testing. Collects samples and analyze bodily fluids and substances for abnormalities. Operates laboratory equipment in a high-quality, effective manner. Analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits, and reports/documents results per organizational standards. Performs automated tests using computerized instruments & automated equipment. Performs manual tests based on detailed instructions from a physician. Runs tests and analyzes the results to be reported to the patient, physician, registered nurse or other licensed person. Performs Quality Control work to ensure accuracy of equipment and tests performed. Assist Lab Assistants as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's in MLT or Bachelor's in MT Required
  • AMLT Certification or Equivalent Required within 1 year of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's in Medical Laboratory Science Preferred
  • ASCP or Equivalent preferred
