About The Position

Oversees the daily technical operations of the clinical laboratory ensuring accurate and timely test results while managing and training staff in accordance with accepted practices and departmental and hospital standards of care. Ensures theanization ads to laws, regulations, internal policies, and ethical standards. Key duties include regulatory inspection liaison, quality assurance monitor, developing and implementing policies, performing audits, assessing risks, providing training, and investigating potential violations to ensure theanization operates legally and ethically.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience as a Medical Technologist.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, refine and enforce laboratory protocols to ensure accuracy, efficiency, andpliance with regulatory standards. This includes the review and continuous improvement of existing procedures as well as the creation of new protocols.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate best practices and innovative methodologies ensuring that all protocols are scientifically sound and practically applicable.
  • Conducts internal and external audits to ensurepliance, assess risks related to protecting patient information, and develop corrective plans.
  • Implements regular audits and quality control measures to maintain stringent standards and foster a culture of excellence within the laboratory environment.
  • Develops and delivers training programs to ensure all employees, from new hires to senior staff, understand andply with regulations and policies.
  • Keeps the laboratory current on changes in healthcare laws and regulations to ensure theanization's practices remainpliant.
  • Identifies and addresses vulnerabilities, especially regarding patient data security and privacy, to protect theanization from legal and financial penalties.
  • Responsible for program development and implementation. Creates and manages theanization'spliance program, incorporating federal and state laws and internal guidelines.
  • Leads the laboratory team during regulatory inspections. Ensures that inspectors have the necessary information as requested.
  • Gathers information post-inspection, corrects processes and responds to all regulatory deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Manages internal and external Quality Control/Quality Improvement programs. Generates monthly data and reports to appropriatemittees.
  • Drives the laboratory document control system through the hospital's MCN Healthcare policy manager. Ensures that all laboratory procedures are up to date. Maintains retired policies as required.
  • Introduces cutting edge technologies to enhance laboratory operations and diagnostic capabilities to include the integration of automated systems, advanced analytical instruments, and innovative software solutions.
  • Perform regular assessments to evaluate the performance of current and new technologies and to ensure their alignment withanizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees the seamless integration of analyzers within the laboratory infrastructure to optimize workflow, efficiency and data accuracy. Coordinates the installation and calibration of new analyzers ensuringpatibility with existing systems and training personnel on the proper use and maintenance of these devices.
  • Conduct regular evaluations to monitor the performance of analyzers, troubleshoot any operational issues and implement necessary adjustments to enhance functionality.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers about the latest advancements and analyzer technology and negotiate advantageous procurement agreements.
  • Foster a collaborative environment w feedback from laboratory staff is actively sought and incorporated into the continuous improvement of departmental policies, procedures and analyzer integration.
  • Manages/performs other aspects of daily lab operations including collections, sample processing, results reporting/ distribution, personnel direction (as appropriate), and clerical duties as required to maintain efficient work flow, at apetent level and according to the age/needs of the patient/populations served,municated special circumstances to appropriate personnel.
  • Complies with policies, procedures, and initiatives of laboratory services, the hospital and the system; understands,municate andplies with standards and conditions set forth by various governmental and accrediting agencies including CAP, CMS, and CLIA.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; ads to all Val Verde Regional Medical Center policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skillspetency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of theanization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
