About The Position

Genesis Reference Laboratories is seeking a part-time Laboratory Care Specialist to collect specimens for Toxicology and PCR Testing in San Antonio, Texas. The role involves accurately entering patient data, preparing specimen collection kits, and ensuring effective communication with account staff regarding patient reports. The position is designed to support the laboratory's mission of providing accurate and timely results to improve patient outcomes.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
• Ability to meet all safety and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Computer proficiency and data entry skills.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Reliable and dependable work ethic.

• Ability to learn and use standard operating procedures with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

• Previous medical or laboratory experience (preferred).
• 1 year of laboratory experience (preferred).
• 1 year of clinical laboratory experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens for Toxicology and PCR Testing.
• Accurately enter patient data into laboratory software.
• Create lab requisition forms using laboratory software.
• Prepare specimen collection kits.
• Properly collect, label, and package specimens for shipment.
• Communicate effectively with account staff regarding patient reports.
• Monitor specimen turnaround time and work with supervisor to resolve issues.
• Monitor collection supply volume and ensure timely fulfillment of supply requests.
• Assist with other related duties as assigned.
