About The Position

The Laboratory Associate is a vital member of the patient care team, supporting inpatient and outpatient services through accurate specimen collection and handling. This role includes phlebotomy across all age groups and ensures compliance with laboratory, hospital, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Phlebotomy program and internship (preferred)
  • At least 1 year of related experience (preferred)
  • Phlebotomy Certification (preferred)
  • Valid State Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Collect, process, package, and transport laboratory specimens
  • Perform age‑appropriate phlebotomy (neonatal, pediatric, adult, geriatric)
  • Register patients and enter orders accurately in laboratory systems
  • Follow strict quality control and specimen integrity guidelines
  • Manage supplies and maintain organized work areas
  • Serve as a liaison to answer inquiries and resolve issues for customers
  • Support basic microbiology tasks (culture planting, slide prep, incubation)
  • Rotate across campuses and cover weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as assigned
