About The Position

This position is for the Night Shift from 9:00pm to 5:30am. The role involves performing duties related to receiving, handling, and processing specimens for laboratory testing. Responsibilities include receiving, sorting, and accessioning specimens, assigning them to the appropriate pre-analytic and analytic workflow. The position also entails performing basic post-analytic tasks, such as distributing reports and storing or retrieving specimens. Quality-related tasks include documentation of work, maintaining a clean, stocked, and safe work area, and monitoring pending work while escalating priority tasks. The role requires operating basic pre-analytic lab equipment and adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
• 1 year of recent relevant experience.
• Advanced knowledge of standard principles, processes, procedures, and equipment related to laboratory testing.
• Ability to accurately perform job duties and assigned tasks.
• Ability to organize and prioritize job duties for timely completion.
• Solid critical thinking and decision-making skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of applicable regulations aimed at ensuring patient privacy and safety.

Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, and accession specimens for laboratory testing.
• Assign specimens to appropriate pre-analytic and analytic workflows.
• Perform basic post-analytic tasks including distributing reports and storing/retrieving specimens.
• Complete quality-related tasks such as documentation of work and maintaining a clean work area.
• Monitor pending work and escalate priority tasks as necessary.
• Operate basic pre-analytic lab equipment.
• Adhere to all regulations, codes, policies, and procedures.
