About The Position

The Laboratory Assistant plays a crucial role in the processing of specimens and clerical activities within the laboratory setting. This position is responsible for verifying specimen integrity, preparing samples for testing, and assisting in various support functions across departments such as Cytology, Anatomic Pathology, and Microbiology. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain a safe laboratory environment while adhering to regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience as a phlebotomist.
  • 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, and listening).
  • Good leadership abilities.
  • Ability to comply with OSHA and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Flexibility to adapt to laboratory needs related to testing and scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Perform processing of specimens and clerical activities.
  • Verify specimen integrity and patient demographics.
  • Prepare samples for testing by established procedures and techniques.
  • Assist in laboratory specimen preparation and processing for Cytology, Anatomic Pathology, and/or Microbiology.
  • Support functions including data entry, filing, reagent handling and preparation, slide preparation, and planting of cultures.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Assist other departments and perform additional functions as required.
  • Perform phlebotomy as required.
