As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play an important role in the patient experience. You will be responsible for the efficient and timely registration and test ordering of all laboratory samples. You will develop and maintain positive relationships with our patients, guests, other team members, and medical staff by striving for excellence in service and quality. You will be responsible for: Assuming the responsibility for the safety and comfort of patients in accordance with established laboratory standards and practices. Performing timely and accurate patient registration. Performing laboratory support functions including pre-analytical and post-analytical laboratory functions Demonstrating correct procedure for completion of venipuncture/skin puncture procedures for patients of all ages. Paging and communicating client needs to client service representative and phlebotomists. Filing and maintenance of laboratory request forms with associated paperwork Receiving specimens into the LIS from nursing units and immediately transporting specimens to appropriate testing section, communicating appropriately as to priority (i.e., STATS). Communicating with the public, medical staff, and interdepartmental personnel regarding client and patient needs and testing reports. Maintaining extremely confidential and accurate records for appropriate billing and regulatory practices. Ensuring reports are delivered to appropriate physicians or areas. Collecting blood specimens from patients, transports specimens to the laboratory for analysis. Working flexible hours to include weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy Certification preferred
